Mutanda

Mutanda was abandoned at birth. Her mother had become pregnant through rape and did not know the identity of Mutanda’s father. Because of cultural stigma surrounding pregnancy outside of marriage, her mother was rejected by her own family while she was pregnant. Mutanda also faced rejection because her father was unknown, and her mother eventually fled under the weight of that humiliation. Anikana Foundation stepped in to provide Mutanda with care and protection.
