A small mission, built the right way.
Jordan River Charity is a faith-rooted effort, incorporated in Ohio with donor systems and policies still being built out, committed to transparent and dignified care for orphans and vulnerable children — starting in Uganda.
Our story
Named for a river of restoration.
JRC was founded by Jordan Garcia, an Ohio-based believer who couldn't shake the weight of what James 1:27 actually asks of the church. The name points back to the Jordan River — a place of crossing over, healing and covenant. That is what we want for the children we hope to serve.
We began with one question: what would it look like to build a nonprofit that never had to apologize for how it handled money, told stories, or spoke about children? This site is an early attempt at that answer — including admitting how much is still unfinished.
Why Uganda first
Because relationship comes before scale.
Our first partner — Anikana Foundation in Jinja / Buwenge, contact Mary Mariam, partner code UG-ANIKANA — is already caring for children on the ground. Rather than arriving with our own project, we chose to walk with a local team that was faithful long before we showed up. Uganda first. Nations next.

What we will not do
- Exploit children's pain for marketing
- Publish images or numbers we cannot stand behind
- Hide money movement or overhead
- Claim a legal or tax status we do not hold
What we will do
- Report where money went, including what fell short
- Work through a local partner rather than around one
- Say plainly when something is planned rather than done
- Grow slowly and sustainably
